Our REMOTE cabin retreat is located on the southern part of Grand Manan, on the west side(the only cabin on the west side) of the island. As it is isolated,( approximately 2.5 kilometres from the main road), getting to the cabin is an adventure in itself, the only access is by foot(bring boots), mountain bike, or ATV (4-wheeler). We will arrange to take you and your luggage to and from the cabin by ATV and trailer at the time of arrival and again on the day you leave. All other travel is done on foot or by bike!
Once you arrive you will be treated with a spectacular ocean view, one that is repeated from every aspect of the cabin. In the evening you will witness some of the most beautiful sunsets, creating memories that will last a life time from the comfort of your deck chair.
If you are an early riser the sunrises are equally magnificent as it brings in the sunny warm rays to greet you!
The cabin is situated on a cliff over looking the cobblestone beach and the Bay of Fundy. With the only access to the beach, you can explore areas that very few have gone but you need to watch out for the tides - at high tide the beach is completely covered with water! Located here as well, is an active fishing weir and at times throughout the year you will see the fishermen with their boats seining the weir. You will also see seals playing close by and occasionally a whale (there are binoculars in the cabin just in case). The Grand Manan trails are among the best anywhere, Nature's Window is located in the heart of it with trails that leave in every direction right from the door, Hay Point being the most popular destination and one you don't want to miss.
Our solar powered cabin, with a backup generator will be your window to alternative living. This quiet form of energy can show that you can live comfortably without relying on others and we will show you all you need to know in 10 minutes to run the cabin. As cabins go, it runs just like any other with a full bathroom, kitchen, with all amenities, to all the plugs being 110 volts, just like your house!! You do need to be conscious of the power you use, generally most power is used by leaving the lights on, so we have oil lamps for your late evening of reading. The glow of the oil lamps will light the soft wood of the cabin until the rhythm of the waves lull you off to sleep. . .

The cabin itself is very cozy . Upstairs is a loft bedroom with a double bed, stereo(with a CD player) and TV/VCR. The main floor is an open room concept that has the kitchen/ dining area and a living area. There is a wood stove in the living area for those cool autumn evenings. The kitchen area has a small fridge, propane stove, microwave and all the dishes, pots/pans, utensils, glasses, everything needed to cook even the grandest of Thanksgiving dinners. The living area has a futon, which can be made into a double bed, glider rocker, and wood stove. There is also a full bathroom with bath/shower and composting toilet. We provide all the sheets, blankets, towels. All you need to bring are your personal belongings and food to feast on.

Outside there is a barbecue and a picnic bench to take in those warm sunny days. A deck runs along the side, and back of the cabin which overlooks the cliffs with a breathtaking view of the water below.
Take advantage of the many trails in the area, great for hiking or mountain biking.
As the cabin is very isolated, the only people you will see are the occasional hikers, but it is not so isolated that you can't walk or bike to your vehicle and explore the rest of Grand Manan.
